初インドで初講師 / First teaching in First India

人生初のインドで長年の念願だった教育への第一歩を踏み出せました。

一週間の短期集中マスタークラスコース。みんなすごい良い結果を出してくれました。

生徒よりも学んだ事が多かった素晴らしい一週間でした。

My first lecture in my first India.

It's been one of my dream to teach automotive design for long time.

Great works from all students. Lot of talents.

I have learned more than any students there this week.

Look up here, I’m in heaven....

At the beginning, this was my personal after-work project. Then people took an interest and offered me help, this quickly became a team, which fortunately included a sponsor who proposed to build a full size sculpture of this portrait for us.
But unfortunately that sponsor pulled out from the project at the end last year, so now we are seeking a solution to make this happen.
In the meantime, I would like to share the work in progress until we finish the 3D model, 1/5th scale model (3D printed) and then the final full size model. Our goal is to build a full size sculpture of this portrait.

And hopefully find the solution and/or sponsor during this unveiling process in order to deliver the final portrait model.

最初はアフター5プロジェクトとしてひとりはじめたプロジェクト、次第にプロジェクトに賛同してくれた有志が集まり、有難い事にチームとして製作を進めることに。
運良くフルサイズの肖像の制作を受け持ってくれるスポンサーもチームに参加、肖像完成に向け製作を進めるが、スポンサーは昨年末やむなき理由で降板。
現在は有志のチームと作業を進めながら最終の肖像を作るためのパートナー、スポンサー、様々なソリューションを模索中。
来月中にはCADが終了し、そこから1/5スケールのモデルをプリント、そして最終のフルサイズの肖像制作へと移行。

目標はこの肖像を世に送り出す事。

この過程でそこまでの道を見つけたい。

After I achieved my first dream of becoming a car designer, I went on to design for various car manufacturers over 15 years. 

Then, at the end of 2015, I decided to start my own company, to concentrate on my life's work of creating Hypercars, and new projects for my clients.

 The very first thing I started working on was a David Bowie car - more than 20 years after the initial decision, I finally started to work on my second dream. 

It was after Christmas 2015 that one of most exciting and interesting sketch sessions for me started. But this blissful time was curtailed 2 weeks later by the very sad news of David’s passing. 

I said to myself, this was now an impossible dream to achieve. 

But after that period of profound sorrow, I decided to create a portrait of him by using my medium “CAR”. 

"It’s not possible to this with him but always possible to do it for him as a tribute and token of appreciation."

Sketches from 8 Jan 2016, his birthday and two days before his death / 彼がこの世を去る2日前のスケッチ。彼の誕生日。

クルマのデザイナーになるという最初の夢を叶えて15年ほど経った2015年の師走、自分の信じる夢、思うところのある僕は、会社に独立の意向を伝え、そして快く承諾していただいた。そしてその後すぐにアフターファイブプロジェクトとして取りかかったのが、デビット・ボウイ・カープロジェクトだった。ようやくこのプロジェクトに取りかかれる、と喜んだのもつかの間、2016年1月10日、2週間ほどの至福のデザインセッションはあっけなく幕を閉じた。

叶えられない夢もあるのだ、と思った。

失意の中2週間ほど経ったある日、「生きている彼とのコラボは不可能だけど彼へのオマージュを送ることは今でも可能だ」と、なぜか突然そう思った。

自分はクルマという媒体で彼の肖像を造ろう。そう決意した。

　a Car or a Portrait...  / 　車か肖像か

A painter expresses himself with oil, water colour... A Sculptor expresses himself with wood, clay, metal ... I express myself through "CARS". The challenge is to do his portrait by using a CAR as my medium.

画家が絵の具で、彫刻家が粘度や木や石で表現するように,

自分は車で表現をする。

自分はクルマという媒体で彼の肖像を造ろう。

そう思った。

How it started　/ 　事の始まり

It has been my dream to create a car for him over 20 years.

I’ve been just wishing to do something with him since the age of 9 when I found myself intrigued by his music even though I was not a musician. 

Then, around the age of 20, while studying to be a car designer, I looked up at the poster of him on my wall. 

It had the last letter of his name « d » and the first letter of his surname  « b » attached and it seemed like the « db » emblem of a car. 

I said to myself then 

« I just need to create a car for him ! »  

I am not a musician but I was not car designer yet either. But since that day my second dream was set.

彼のために車を作る事は２０年以上前からの夢だった。

音楽家でもない自分は、９歳からの憧れであった彼と、どうにかして何かを一緒にやりたかった。

二十歳すぎ、カーデザイナーになることを夢見て勉強をしていた頃、自分の部屋の壁にデヴィッド・ボウイの『Outside』のポスターが張ってあった。

彼の名前の最後と名字の最初のdとbの文字だけが赤く繋げてあり、記号のようなその“db”の赤い文字は、まるでクルマのエンブレムのように見えた。

「そうだ、彼にクルマを作ればいいんだ。」

そんなひらめきが発端だった。

音楽家でもないがもちろんまだカーデザイナーにもなっていなったけれど
その時から彼の名前を冠したクルマを作ることは僕の夢になった。

小さめの四駆だったみたいですね、最初に思いついたのは。。。
